Harlan Bakeries, Inc. (Harlan) to attend the 2006 American Pie Council (APC)/

Crisco National Pie Championships.

AVON, INDIANA –Harlan Bakeries, Inc. will attend the 2006 American Pie Council Crisco National Pie Championships at the Sheraton Safari Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The championships, which are held in conjunction with the Great American Pie Festival, will take place on April 21st.

Additionally, Harlan will participate in The Never-Ending Pie Buffet which takes place on Saturday, April 22 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm and on Sunday, April 23 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Admission prices to The Never-Ending Pie Buffet are as follows: $8 for adults, $6 for those ages 65 years and older, and $4 for children ages 3 – 10 years.

Each year, the number of entries in the Crisco National Pie Championships has grown. Three hundred pies were entered in last year’s Commercial Division, up from the two hundred eighty-five entered in 2004.
In 2005, Harlan’s Blueberry, Chocolate Cream, Coconut Cream, and No Sugar Added (NSA) Apple pies placed first in their flavor categories in the Family group of the Commercial Division. In the Premium and Premium NSA groups, Harlan’s Coconut Cream and Lemon Meringue Pies each placed first in their categories respectively.
