June 2002 - Harlan Bakeries wins the Indiana Chamber of Commerce 4th Annual Safety Award!

Avon, Indiana - Harlan Bakeries, Inc., was honored for outstanding efforts at putting safety first at the 4th Annual Safety Awards sponsored by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Harlan Bakeries, Inc., along with four other Hoosier companies, received the award during a luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Indianapolis on Wednesday, June 5th.

Harlan Bakeries, Inc., won the 500,000 - 1 million hours worked category being recognized for what the Indiana Chamber noted as "a superior safety record, achieved through an extensive safety program that demonstrates its commitment to providing the safest, healthiest possible environment for its employees".

This is the first year that Harlan Bakeries, Inc., submitted an application to be considered for the safety awards. Indiana Chamber employees including Thresa Jolivette, Director of Health Care and Workplace Safety Policy, and George Raymond, Vice President of Human Resources, Labor Relations & Civil Justice, judged the nearly sixty applications.

Harlan Bakeries, Inc., is a privately owned company established in 1991 and produces the Harlan Bigger Better Bagel® and Harlan Giant Gourmet Bagel® brands, private-label bagels, par-baked bagels, pre-proofed frozen raw dough, and many other frozen baked goods.
